Chess Pages. After many long years away, Chess has intersected with my research in computational complexity itself. From the time I arrived in 1989, I've made clear to swear away any "me too" interest in Computer Chess. But now computer chess has come to find me, and in both developing tests for human-computer similarity (i.e., cheating) and in-situ testing of pseudorandom generators for subset-sum (Zobrist) hashing (Under Construction), the research areas involved are novel, at least from what I know. There are also extensive game analyses here, and there will be essays about topics in chess and science in general.
Complexity '98 Conference Home Page Full version. I was Local Arrangements Chair, and ran by-acclaim a successful conference with 84 participants. Material here on Buffalo may still be useful to all visitors.

The Christmas gift tag reads, "To: Dawkins. From: Willie Stark (who you forgot)." Photo as-is, shall not be retouched.
