Problem

The presentation of multimedia data contains highly intensive time- and spatial-constraints defined by QoS requirements. A multimedia presentation is consistent if the presentation satisfies the specified QoS parameters.

Experiments have shown that various inconsistency of multimedia presentations may occur due to delays and other factors in data retrieval and transmission over disk and network. Moreover, due to the complexity of presentations assembled from multimedia databases, novel scheduling to generate sophisticated presentations is needed. Thus, comprehensive strategies must be designed to dynamically adjust any rate variations in the transmission of the data and to ensure consistent play-out defined in the presentations.
