Essay assignment

General information

One of the requirements of this class is that you write an essay. The reason for this is that as a professional in the field of computer science or computer engineering, you will have to communicate effectively with your peers, with your managers, and with your customers. You will communicate with them verbally and in writing, in technical terms and in layman's terms. An important part of learning how to communicate effectively is to practice doing it. Hence the essay requirement.

The essay will be completed in stages:

1. pick a topic and submit it for approval.
2. submit an outline for feedback
3. submit a first draft, based on the outline you submitted, for feedback
4. submit a second draft, based on feedback on your first draft, for further feedback
5. submit your final essay, based on feedback on your second draft.

Each time you hand something in for the essay you must include the commented version of all of your previous submissions.
