Ajay Shekhawat: Pictures from November 8, 2003 (12 pictures)

Morning, heading towards Zion National Park.
Entered Zion NP from the east (stayed at Mt. Carmel Junction). This is the first 'scenic view' in the Zion NP, the 'Checkerboard Mesa'. The funky grooves on the sides make you wonder: how did this happen?
Another weird rock formation in Zion. Note the angle of the layers of rocks.
I called this 'eagle point'. If you look from afar (and use some imagination, of which I have plenty), the hill looks like a bald eagle's head. The 'eye' is clearly visible, and the beak extends to the left...
The Virgin river in the Zion valley (where the Zion lodge is present). This valley reminds me of so many scenes from the Louis L'Amour novels.... yeah, I'll admit to reading him when I was young and naive.
Looking north, along the Zion valley, from the Middle Emerald Pools trail.
Yours truly, copping a pose. Thanks for taking the picture, Montana!
OK, this cross between an ant and a bee appeared out of nowhere along the path (riverside walk, from the Temple of Sinawava). Compare its size to the leaves nearby. I wouldn't want it crawling into my sleeping bag! But, since I value all life, I let it pass unharmed.
All good things must come to an end. On to Bryce Canyon, Passepartout!
Approaching the 'Red Canyon', on the way to Bryce Canyon NP.
Interesting formation along the road to Bryce.
A little 'underpass' along the way...
