- October 29th 2008: Anand is classical World Champion in the match format as well. He drew his 11th game against Kramnik and defended his title.
- August 3rd 2008: Anand wins Mainz 2008 Rapid Championship for the 11th time
- March 17th 2008: Anand conferred honarary Doctorate
- March 7th 2008: Anand wins Linares as clear first.
