Hung Q. Ngo was born in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.
He (was) moved to Ho Chi Minh city (formerly Sai Gon) at an early age. There, he attended Le Hong Phong high school, then earned a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology.
He started attending graduate schools in the Fall of 1996, and obtained an M.S. in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota at Twin Cities in May of 2001.
In August of 2001, he became an assistant professor at the Computer Science and Engineering department at the State University of New York at Buffalo. In 2007, he was promoted to associate professor with tenure.
Hung Q. Ngo is a recepient of several teaching awards, an NSF career award (2004), a UB Exceptional Scholar (Young Investigator) Award (2005), and two best paper awards (COCOON 2008, PODS 2012).
