Dr. Jinhui Xu is currently an associate professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo (the State University of New York). He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. He joined the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, University at Buffalo (SUNY), soon after obtaining his Ph.D. degree. Dr. Xu's research interests are in the fields of Algorithms (including both exact and approximation algorithms), Computational Geometry, Combinatorial Optimization, and Geometric Applications in Biomedical Imaging, Treatment Planning and Diagnosis, Networking, Mobile Computing, and VLSI Design. He has worked on many fundamental problems in these areas and designed a number of efficient algorithms. His recent research has focused on the development of geometric algorithms and optimization methods for solving problems related to biomedical imaging and cardiovascular treatments. Dr. Xu's research has been supported by National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institute of Health (NIH), NYSTAR, IBM, and University at Buffalo. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and the IBM Faculty Partnership Award. |
