During the past years, OBS has been receiving an increasing amount of attention from both academic, industrial and government R&D groups around the globe. It has become an active area of research with more than two hundred papers published in several leading journals/magazines and almost all major communication conferences. The work on the different facets of OBS benefits from the strong research background on wavelength routing and optical packet switching networks.
The series of International Workshops on Optical Burst Switching (WOBS) has started in 2003 with events at OptiComm in Dallas in October and at GlobeCom 2003 in San Francisco in December. Both events have been very successful in bringing together leading research groups on OBS and fostering the exchange and discussion of ideas and visions.
The workshop will include invited talks, panels, and technical sessions for presentations. The participants will also be given a plenty of time and opportunities to network with each other and engage in technical discussion and debate.
