Objective
To provide a platform for understanding regional views on the progress towards optical networking in both telecom and non-telecom (eg Grid computing) sectors. The discussion will focus on optical networking R&D activities in the next 5 years toward 2010 in China, Europe, Japan, Korea & USA. Regional R&D plans will be presented together with examples of major current projects. Discussion will extend to possible collaborations between regions.
