HOW TO USE THE U.B. PUBLIC-SITE COMPUTERS

Last Update: 30 August 2000

Note: NEW material is highlighted

This document will tell you how to use the computers in Park 143, the Cybraries, and other public-site computers running WindowsNT. If the computer you are using doesn't seem to behave the way this document says that it should, ask a consultant (you may not be at the right kind of computer, or there may be something wrong with the computer).

This document assumes that you already have a UBIT Name and password. If you don't have these, go to the CIT Accounts Desk at 215 Computing Center (the building next to Fronczak). If you have them, but don't remember what they are, go to any CIT public site (including Bell 101) and swipe your UBcard in the special system set up for that purpose.

  3. A dialogue box will appear:

    Press the "return" or "enter" key

    • IF you make a mistake, THEN:

      -- Click "OK" & start over

    • IF you made no mistakes, THEN:
      -- You will see various messages at the top & bottom of the screen;
      -- Eventually, the "Start" button will appear at the bottom left of the screen, with the messages
      <-- Click here to begin
