To: CSE191-SP08-LIST@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: "Can I turn in HW #1 late?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A student writes (and this student is not the only one who has asked this question): | I have an issue with the homework. I ordered the book and student manual | Sunday January 13th, and it hasn't arrived yet. I understand that the first | homework is due wednesday, but it hasn't arrived yet and I'm worried it | won't be in in time. I was emailing to get permission to turn it in late if | my book arrives late (since I know noone in the class yet to even borrow). | Hopefully the book will arrive tomorrow so I will have time, in such a case | I will email you letting you know it has come in. | | For now, however, will it be ok if I don't hand it in? My reply: The answer to all your questions is: No. The book has been available in the bookstore since before classes began. You have had ample opportunity to get a copy. I also told you on the first day of class to get the name/phone/email of someone in class for just this kind of situation. However, because I will drop one HW grade, this can be the one that gets dropped. I apologize if this sounds strict or uncaring, but in a large lecture class, I cannot make exceptions this early in the semester.
