Tomorrow Tuesday, October 16 we will have our second guest lecture, by Prof. Susan Udin UB Department of Physiology & Biophysics UB Center for Cognitive Science Her topic will be: "Visual Receptive Fields" for which I suggested (last week) that you read the 3 items at: http://www.cse.buffalo.edu/~rapaport/575/F07/guestlectures.html#udin ======================================================================== II. Because we won't have much time tomorrow to discuss what you should be reading for Thursday, I'll use this email to tell you. Reading: if you are reading: then you should read: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thagard Ch. 8, Review Gardner Ch. 8, Anthropology Cummins & Cummins Ch. 5: Marr, "Vision" and optionally Ch.26: Sejnowski et al., "Computational Neuroscience" ======================================================================== III. I will return your term-project proposals at the end of Tuesday's guest lecture. I have already sent email to those of you who need to revise and resubmit your proposals (in all cases, no later than Friday, Oct. 19). If you have not received email from me concerning that, then you may assume that your proposal has been accepted, and you should begin (or continue) working on your project. ======================================================================== IV. On Thursday, Oct. 18, I will collect Reading Journals from "Group I": Boomer, Chen, Robinson, and White. A reminder: If you are keeping your journal in a looseleaf/3-ring binder, please leave the binder at home and just clip the pages together (binders are kind of hard to manage, especially if they're thick). If you are keeping your journal online, please print it out for me. If you are keeping it online in some format that does not easily lend itself to printing, please think of some convenient way for me to examine it on my Mac. But please do not email it to me. Whatever you hand in to me: Please make sure that it is somehow clipped, stapled, or otherwise bound together (in a folder if it's really long), and that your name is clearly printed on the front. If you have questions, please let me know.
