Bio

Dr. Fu received the B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees with honors from Xi¡¯an Jiaotong University (XJTU), China, in Information Engineering and Pattern Recognition and Intelligence Systems, respectively; M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in Statistics and Electrical and Computer Engineering, respectively. He later spent two years as a scientist in computer vision and pattern recognition at Raytheon BBN Technologies, Cambridge; and a lecturer in computer science at Tufts University, Medford. Dr. Fu¡¯s research interests are Interdisciplinary research in Machine Learning, Social Media Analytics, Human-Computer Interaction, and Cyber-Physical Systems. He has extensive publications in leading journals, books/book chapters and international conferences/workshops. He serves as associate editor, chairs, PC member and reviewer of many top journals and international conferences/workshops. He is the recipient of the IEEE ICIP2007 Best Paper Award, IAPR ICFHR2010 Best Paper Award, IEEE ICDM LSVA Workshop 2011 Best Paper Award, IEEE ICME 2011 Quality Reviewer, Google Faculty Research Award, IC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Award, M. E. Van Valkenburg Graduate Research Award, Beckman Graduate Fellowship, Hewlett-Packard Silver Medal and Science Scholarship, and Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad. His research is broadly supported by NSF, DOD, DARPA, IARPA, ONR, AFOSR, ARL/ARO, NGA, IC, Google, and FutureWei. He is the Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT). He is a senior member of IEEE, life member of ACM, AAAI, SPIE, and Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS).
