Subject: Grad Student Gripe Session From: "William J. Rapaport" Date: Thu, 28 Oct 2010 10:16:29 -0400 (EDT) As you should know by now, there will be a general "Grad Student Gripe Session" (see below). Some of you might want to discuss various issues related to CSE 501, ranging from attendance and noise issues to whether the course is worthwhile or should be removed as a requirement. ======================================== WHAT: Graduate student gripe session WHO: All CSE graduate students are invited WHEN: Nov 4, 2010; 4:45pm WHERE: Bell 224 FOOD: Pizza at 5:30pm (courtesy the great folks at CSE GSA!) WHY: There have been reports pointing to a lot of recent unhappiness in the CSE graduate student community. This session is an attempt to get graduate students together and catalog some of the burning issues. THE MECHANICS: Mike Buckley, Ken Regan and Atri Rudra will be the only non-student attendees and their goal is to take up the issues with the CSE chair, faculty and staff. While there are no guarantees, Mike and Atri will try their best to resolve (some of) the issues by working with the CSE faculty and staff. A CAVEAT: While there are lots of personal issues that affect individual graduate students, the gripe session is geared more towards issues that affect the graduate student population as a whole. IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT: Email your gripes to Mike Buckley (mikeb@buffalo), Mike Prentice (mjp44@buffalo) or Atri Rudra (atri@buffalo) ANONYMOUS GRIPES: We are working out a mechanism to collect anonymous gripes. We will get back to you on this in a few days. See you on Nov 4th and we look forward to hearing your gripes! --Mike B. and Atri ================================
