HW #1: COMPARISON OF 2 HUMAN-COMPUTER DIALOGUES

Study the "B" and "D" human-computer interactions on the "Artificial IQ Test".

For more information on the AIQ Test, see: Rapaport, William J. (1986), "Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence: A Course Outline", Teaching Philosophy 9: 103-120. This should be available in Lockwood Library (Per B52.T37).

Then write 1 page (typed/word-processed; about 250 words) on the following:

  1. Which is more "intelligent": B or D? Why?

  2. The original "operating systems" were humans who operated the mainframe computers. So, given that AI can be defined as programming computers to behave in ways normally attributed to "intelligence" when observed in humans, is a modern-day operating system "intelligent"? Why?
