This is a five-year-old male with no significant past medical history =
and who was transferred from Millard Fillmore Suburban hospital to the =
Children's Hospital emergency department with wheezing. A chest x-ray at =
Suburban and a repeat chest x-ray at Children's were both negative. A =
pulse ox was 96 percent on room air. Patient required albuterol aerosols =
q one hour for increased work of breathing. Patient was afebrile. =
Patient was admitted to the floor with albuterol aerosols, IV solumedrol =
and Atrovent aerosols.

Overnight, the patient markedly improved, and by the morning the patient =
had a benign lung exam. Patient was discharged with albuterol MDI with =
spacer and was given training on the use of the medication by =
respiratory therapy. Patient was to finish up a five day course of oral =
Prelone. Father was asked to follow-up with the private doctor at the =
end of the Prelone course. Final diagnosis was new onset reactive airway =
disease.
