Create a PostScript File Hi, Let's see if we can create a PostScript file of your paper. I'm working on a PC using MSWord, so I'll tell you how we do it here, and hope it works for you there. First you will need to "Add a Printer" to your group of printers. What you want to add is Brand: Linotronic and Model: Linotronic 530. Then close the printer dialog box. Now, open the file you want to convert to PostScript. On the toolbar, Press FILE Press PRINT Dialog box will open On right of dialog box will be a small box and "Print to File" Click on this so check mark appears in small box (Note: after the entire conversion process is done, you will need to go back and remove the check mark from this small box, otherwise ALL your papers will be printed to file instead of printing out of the printer.) Press OK A Print To File dialog box will appear and you will need to enter a File Name. (use the last name of one of the authors as the file name for your HICSS paper. Say one of the authors has a last name of Smith, name your paper "smith".) Do not add an extension. The extension .prn will automatically be added. Note the drive and directory you are saving the file to. Press OK Now, go to your DOS Prompt set path to drive you saved file to and "dir" to see if file is there. If yes, then rename the file to a .ps file by typing in at the prompt: rename (space) filename.prn (space) filename.ps (press enter) (If your paper is named "smith.prn" then the renaming command will be "rename (space) smith.prn (space) smith.ps (press enter)" Do "dir" again to see if the .ps version is there. Go to MSWord and open the smith.ps version. Paper should start with %Adobe... and end with EOF. Hope this all works. Best of luck! Penny Storms Production Editor IEEE Computer Society
