Overview

This seminar course concentrates on the discussion of emerging biometrics and mobile user identification systems. After reviewing traditional biometrics, a set of emerging biometrics (e.g., soft biometrics, behavioral patterns, etc.) will be in-depth discussed. Also, the seminar will discuss recently research work on internet of things security, particularly focusing on biometrics-based, identification-based approaches. By the end of the seminar, students will learn how to evaluate (i.e., performance metrics) and design user authentication systems using biometrics.

If you are interested in biometrics, cyber-physical security and IOT security, this seminar is highly recommended.

Course Credits

You can take this seminar for 1 to 3 credits. Everyone needs to present 1 paper and review 2 papers in distinct topics. Course projects are available and optional for students with 2/3 credits.

Note: Each project needs 2-3 members. Projects are innovative and clearly-defined, and expect to have publications in the end. If you are looking for research opportunities in biometrics, please enroll the course with 2/3 credits and team up with your classmates.
