Lab 4 (Working at Home)

Introduction

When working at home on future labs, you will need to keep in mind many of the lessons learned from all the previous working from home labs.  Please make sure to refer back to them often.  While you will not have to re-install Eclipse and the other programs that were advised in Lab 2, you will need to remember how to transfer your work between the systems at school and your personal computer.  You will only see directions in this lab for working from home.  For a full description of the lab, please refer back to the Lab 4 page.

Helpful Hints

Make sure you have done the installation of the programs as described in Lab 2.

Lab set-up tasks

Step 1: Turn on computer and create a connection to the Internet

Step 2: Start Eclipse

You should have an icon on your desktop or in your start menu to do this now.  If not, you probably have not installed Eclipse.  Go back to the Lab 2 working from home instructions.

Step 3: Check out the Lab 4 skeleton from the repository or transfer the files you were working on from the lab.

If this is the first time you are working on the lab, you need to check out the skeleton.  If you have worked on the lab at school and exported it into a Jar file, you need to import it.  Refer back to Lab 2 instructions if you don't remember how to do this.

Step 4: Download the new Classlibs.jar file

YES - do this again.  The Classlibs.jar file has changed for this lab assignment.  Refer to the link on the Resources page.  You should be sure to place this file in the directory C:/projects/CSE115/Classlibs/Spring2007.  If this directory does not exist on your machine, you need to create it.  This file MUST be stored in that directory or your lab will not work.

Step 5: Make sure you have the appropriate relationships installed for Green

You will also need to download and install the dependency, realization, and composition relationships for Green.

Step 6: Export your files and upload them to your school account so you can work on them at school or so you can submit them.

Once you have completed the lab (or completed as much as you can do), you will need to Export it to a Jar file and upload it to your school account so that you can either continue working on it in the Baldy lab or so you can submit it.  Please refer back to the Lab 2 instructions if you don't remember how to complete this step.
